The Best Thing About Finishing a Book

The absolute best thing about finishing a book is the opportunity to start a new one!

Here is a selection of what I have around the house... one I bought at my kids' school book fair this past May, one I saw in the "newly released" section at Barnes and Noble, one was a Marvelous Middle Grade Monday recommendation, two I know about through the Sasquatch Award nominee list, and one I grabbed off the shelf at the library. I think I am going with One Crazy Summer first!

What books are waiting for you?

    1. Glass to pass on some titles... even though I can't actually recommend any of them yet! :-)

  2. I loved book fairs, and those scholastic book orders! Oh, man, the excitement and wonder at looking at all those books and deciding what I wanted. It was the best!

    1. Me too Sara! I have volunteered to do the book orders for my kids' classes the past couple years and it is just as fun to see other peoples' choices! :-) I always enjoy seeing what the kids picked!

      Thanks for stopping by!

  4. I've read One Crazy Summer but will re-read it aloud with my daughter this school year. Turtle in Paradise is simply AWESOME (and a great read-aloud if you have kids that will listen; it's a fast read). And...I have a hardcover or Sixty-Eight Rooms that I'm waiting to give away on my blog but need to find a slotted Marvelous Middle Grade Monday to do so! The others I haven't read. Books waiting for me: The Unwanteds, Jump into the Sky, and Tuesdays at the Castle.

    1. Thanks for your comment Barbara!

I haven't heard of the ones waiting for you...

I also have Flying the Dragon waiting for me at the library. My eyes are bigger than my reading time allows for sometimes! :-)

  5. I've read and loved three of these books. Agree with Barbara that TURTLE IN PARADISE is fantastic. And I loved ONE CRAZY SUMMER and SIXTY-EIGHT ROOMS too.

I can't wait to read THE SPINDLERS by Lauren Oliver (and will probably feature it on MMGM in a week or so).

    1. After posting this, I picked up Flying the Dragon at the library and read that first instead. Fantastic!

Looking forward to your MMGM on The Spindlers!

  6. What a lovely selection! I wouldn't be able to resist starting Penelope Crumb immediately. I've made my way through my huge summer pile. Unfortunately my reading slows down at the beginning of the school year due to work demands, but I'm itching to get my hands on The Sinister Sweetness of Splendid Academy and Malcolm at Midnight.

    1. Penelope Crumb has a really cute cover, right? I like Akoss's comment... I need a twin as well! So many books, so little time.

  7. O_O so many books. I need a twin to help me read them all.
I have a lot of books waiting for me: The Girl who could Fly, Liesl and Po, The Girl who circumnavigated Fairyland, Pie, Summer Moonlight Secrets, and so on.
Maybe I should do a post about my forever growing reading pile? ;)
I hope you feature your books in MMGM. I haven't read any of them yet.
